I have been a major slacker when it comes to writing on here lately. Summer hit and everything has been non stop! We went to Florida one weekend and then San Diego the next in May {will blog about it sometime}. Then Jorge left for Maryland and the kids have been busy with VBS and Swim lessons and parties and...and...and... Oh and being sick. Wouldn't be summer if you didnt get sick! Anyway that's the quick version of my last 2 months!  Now for my top 5 for this week!  5. Last Saturday we took a trip to the lake with some great friends!  Gabe and his BFF Jaycee  The kids had so much fun playing In The water while I got to relax. It's great having friends who treat your kids like their own and who help out so much! {thanks Amanda and Kelly} Gabe chillin... He is so his fathers son.  Swimming can be exhausting!  Just chillin Water fun!  4. After being sick for so long it was refreshing to get out of the house so we spent most of the weekend OUT of the hou...

FBC Woman's Retreat

Back in January or February my women's ministry leader came to me and asked if I would take over the planning of the women's retreat at our Church. This is a first retreat for this church, and they figured they would give it a try, see how it goes. I have never been to a retreat so I was a little hesitant, but after LOTS of prayer I got my answer and said YES. The hardest part about planning the retreat was not knowing anything about retreats and having a short amount of time to get women to sign up. I think a lot of women were hesitant to sign up because it was the first retreat plus its the end of the school year so busy schedules play a big part. I can say that through the whole planning process I never felt overwhelmed or stressed out, I just had a peace about it which was a great feeling to have. The last week of planning Juliana got really sick, so between cuddle times with her I would do the things that needed to be done. It all worked out just fine! Enough about ...

Favorite things and more

I wanted to share some of my newest favorite things! Ever since Jorge and I started this new cleaning schedule I decided I needed some new products to help me out. I usually mop with a steam cleaner, which I do love but it leaves streaks on my wood floor and it doesn't leave that fresh clean smelling. Plus you have to go over the same spot for 10 seconds... T.E.N. thats a long time! Just to actually sanitize. I'm not a mop user I have never liked mopping with a old school mop. SO I bought this handy dandy device: Its the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop. I got it from Amazon for $38... Wal-mart has it for less but I'm not sure if it comes with the 2 extra mats. I love it because I can make my cleaning mixture and stick it in there and mop the whole house in WAY less time then it ever took me with the steam mop. I love it for spot mopping, but really I don't mind mopping with this thing at all. NO water to drain, no buckets it just simple and easy clean up. I recommend t...

High five for Friday

I still have no idea how to link to my cousin or to the original girl Lauren who made this high five for Friday post but I do it anyway! 5. Sunday was the first time that Jorge went to a new church with me, we have a church that we go to but while Jorge was in Afhhanistan I went to my childhood church. The exciting part was that we got to see my sweet friend Savannah get baptized! Watching her grow this past year has been such a blessing to me, she makes me want to do better and she tells me when I'm being "ugly" {my attitude has been ugly these past few months}. It's nice to have someone to keep you in check like that! 4. Monday we had mops, lately I have not been into it at all. Somehow in the last couple of months it became more of a burden then a fun thing for me. This Monday it was really good though! I really enjoyed it like I used to. I wasn't sure if I was going to go next semester or not but I recommitted myself to the committee and am praying for a F...

Favorite New Healthy Recipe's

Recently people have been asking for the recipes that Jorge and I have been making, so I am going to put some up on here. We got pretty much all of the recipes from Pintrest and they are HEALTHY and DELICIOUS! I must admit that a lot of the recipes I improvised on, I just worked with what I had.. sometimes I only had lemon not lime so I would substitute or cayenne pepper instead of red pepper etc. a lot of the recipes that called for onions I left them out. Main Dishes Picture and recipe from http://www.gimmesomeoven.com/hummus-crusted-chicken/ 1. Hummus Crusted Chicken This Hummus Chicken was SO amazing and SO easy! I just bought the hummus dipping stuff. I didn't make the veggies with it instead I made a quinoa salad which I will add the recipe below.   Ingredients 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts salt and pepper 1 zucchini, chopped 1 yellow squash, chopped 1 medium onion, chopped 1 cup hummus, homemade or store bought 1 Tbsp. olive oil 2 lem...

Sandy Eggo

My best friend of 16 years is FINALLY getting married! I don't say that bc she's a loser and couldn't find anyone until now I say that because she has been with her fiancee for 10 years! DyAnna and Steve met at the Naval Academy in Annapolis in 2003. When they graduated they both were able to go to San Diego. DyAnna went on to work with the navy while Steve continued his schooling by going to medical school. I'm sure you can imagine navy relationships have to be hard enough with crazy hours, deployments and everyday stresses but throw med. school in the mix and it just gets crazier. They decided to wait until Steve graduated to get married. I waited so patiently for all these years for a date to be set and then finally we had a date! May 12,2013! When she told me it seemed like light years away, yet here it is already!! I can't tell you how much I love these 2! They are the power couple that you see together and you can just see how in love they are, you would thin...

Cleaning with Meaning

One of Jorge and I's biggest fights has always been cleaning. He is a clean FREAK and I am very laid back. Not to say that I'm messy or not clean but things that bother him don't even phase me. For example, I can clean the kitchen and when Jorge gets home I say, "look babe I cleaned the kitchen!" he says good job and tries to be excited but really I know he's not impressed. To him cleaning the kitchen means cleaning every little thing, he looks at the stainless steal and the microwave and stove.. etc. things that I don't even think about cleaning. The fingerprints on the dishwasher don't phase me, yet to him that means the kitchen is not actually clean. One thing that I was able to learn about Jorge about 4 years into our relationship was that his love language is Acts of Service. Ladies, knowing your mans love language is huge! Knowing this about him helped to know why he was so cranky when the house would be a mess even though I was trying to be nic...
